Best cover of Shontelle's T-Shirt!

I just discovered this video in youtube and exceedingly I was so intensified by her cover of shontelle's hit T shirt! Just tonight, I was searching for people who did their own covers on shontelle's hit.All i did is randomly clicking every related tab and visited every site of that person who did a cover and started watching more videos. In ever channel, I paused and listened..then, if I found myself on the last seconds of the video's duration, it was that I considered that the person who did the cover was indeed someone that those record companies should get acquainted with.

I just like the way she sang "hey...let me tell you no.." (first part of the song) and also the way she sang "in that I lay...in nothing but your t-shirt on.." She has her own style and it was really good to the ears!

My Lesbian Professor

The year was 2006. We were so eager and enthusiastic to our new subject: Parasitology and Microbiology. At last we got the opportunity to study bacteria and at least it made us a little optimistic towards discovering a new breed. We were all excited as we entered Room 112 and as we all settled to our chairs, chats and laughter and eventually noise started to overcome the silence that once enveloped the old and lonely room. As expected, we shared all the stories we made during our 2-month vacation and as the conversations continued, the noise also continued until..

"She's coming", a student from outside the room interrupted. Silence regained its power inside the room and in seconds, we saw 50-60 year old woman in brown pants and faded shirt. Her hair is brown but the prominence of white strands really indicate that the woman was already in her old age. I might be wrong in using "old age" because 50 year old people are not that old looking yet but the woman by the door of our room seemed an exception for she really looked old to us. Her eyes have little black liners on its edges and her lips were covered with a darker kind of a classic lipstick. Wrinkles were also prominent on her face. She has glaring rings on both fingers of both hands and her earrings glared as the sunlight stroked it.

"....." She started to say words. Her voice was husky and seemed like someone who was drunk that just woke up. As she talked, we didnt realize that she was the professor that all those juniors and seniors were talking about. Prior to our first encounter with the professor, we already heard many stories about her; gruesome stories as I described it to a friend.

Years ago, the professor has a special someone who was also her student. She and the student started right. The student was also a woman. At first, the secret relationship went smooth flowing until the eventual encounters went heavy for the student. At one time, they had a quarrel and after it, news just spread that the student committed a suicide. Some said that she was shot. Some say she was tortured. Some say this and some say that. Vague stories started to surface and its breeze went on and on until it arrived on our time. What they told us was that the student committed suicide due to the pressures and downbeat demands of the lesbian professor. For we are vulnerable to believe something, we believed what we heard. And eventually, the story went clearer to all of us.

As the professor continued to say all the sorts of speaking in front of us, we unintentionally directed our eyes to her hands. We didnt know the exact reason but all of us felt the same. It seemed that those hands were on for a very hard curse. And yes, the curse indeed started. She divided us into groups and each group was demanded of very expensive group requirements. Those requirements included an expensive pesticide, an equipment that can only be bought from her stocks, and many more that I cannot barely recall now. On that time, we never expected that we need to put out a large amount of money. We were only being supported by our meager parents and all of our allowance were being budgeted to last for the week and considering that we were on a public school, we really expected that we wont be sought for such very expensive equipment and requirements.

For all the ill operations that our professor put upon us, I wish to declare here - but allow me to focus to the mother of all the fatalities! She demanded us to buy her pathetic workbooks/manuals! This operation has become a tradition to all the classes that were under her from the past until on our time. The most irritating part was that those workbooks/manuals were 4 volumes and each costs 300 pesos! (6 US Dollars) Here in the Philippines, 300 pesos is already a big money! And what really pissed us off was that her manuals where just photocopied or RISO type. The paper was not of good quality and we practically calculated the total cost as we compared it to a normal photocopy cost and it only reached 50 pesos! Wow! In each manual, she gains 250 pesos! And we searched a 300-peso book in a bookstore and we were surprised to see that the book was already beautiful in terms of paper quality and the cover. We were astonished how cripple minded our professor was! She even doomed us that if ever we will not buy her manuals, we will be cut off from the class. Though she didnt directly said such words, she implied such intention indirectly.. She uses cunning words that will surely put her on safe grounds whenever a particular student complains on the legalities of her operations. So, we had no choice but to purchase her 4 workbooks/manuals that were simply photocopied! Horrible indeed!

2 of her 4 manuals. I cant find the other 2 probably they were already thrown or used as a fire starter in the stove.

The pages of her manuals are so simple and RISO only. In other words, they were just like photocopied.

She intentionally made prints on the front of each page only so that the manuals will look bulky and as if so many facts and lessons were written to them.

And when the semester ended. we were all so happy because at last we were out of her grasps. We literally celebrated our freedom! At last we were out of captivity! Nevertheless, the witty professor seemed to have the last laugh as she hold out our final grades. We will have an added points if we do a certain project. . and that project was again so EXPENSIVE and it really made no worth and advantage to us but all to her!

Until now, I am still wondering why the professor still retains her status in the university. Until now, she is still damaging the motivation of every student because of her stupid manuals! and until now, that gruesome story still echoes secretly in the air...

Until now...there is still no one dared step up to face the lesbian professor.

Philippines Nurses at Any Price

Nursingschool.com says that it is not easy to determine which is the best nursing school in the US due to certain considerations that is unique from one school to another. It appears that, here in the Philippines, this scenario is completely the opposite because it is so easy to determine which nursing schools are of standards and which are simply doing subterfuges to prop up their institution and make a great deal of revenues.

When the dawn of high nursing manpower demands in countries like

USA

Canada

, and

Australia

came to notice in the Philippines, middle-income families started to urge their high school seniors to redirect every goal towards taking Nursing in college. And it went all the way through. Until now, thousands and thousands of high school graduates are filing their application for the Nursing course every year.

I wish to narrow my discussion to my own city. Here in my city, there are 5 nursing schools. Among these schools, only West Visayas State University – College of Nursing (WVSU-CON) implements a strict screening during its opening every year. During my time in 2004, the total applicants of WVSU-CON were approximately 2,000+. The screening started with an intensive exam called Nursing Aptitude Test (NAT). After the result came out, only 200
qualified for Interview. And after the interview, 180 were chosen
as the newest students of the college.

The other 4 schools are of the same pattern in screening potential freshmen. These schools are privately managed and owned by certain administrators and managers. They don’t give NAT. They don’t do interview. They just enroll all their applicants. In such, even though you are the 1000^th applicant, you are still accepted.

And so when a student is enrolled, it is expected that he will be molded into a nurse that he is supposed to become; a nurse that has the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitude. Apparently, this seems not applicable to the 4 nursing schools here in my city for the reason that majority of their students haven't even tried to pull out an IV catheter by themselves. Moreover, most of their students always fail on the annual Nursing Licensure Examinations (will be discussed later). And I've witnessed one time a group of students from one of these 4 nursing schools taunting a psychiatric patient.

And the worse is. . it is only on the 3^rd year that these 4 schools give the tough NAT exam. And so, after the exam, almost half of the student population is eliminated from further continuing their study in the college. Those eliminated students are now left behind to find for themselves new nursing schools that would accept them. And the question now is.. what about the money that those students paid for the 3 years that they have stayed in the college?. . For the record, these 4 schools collect like 30,000 pesos (620 US Dollars) in every student per semester and one school year is composed of 2 semesters! So would this mean that the money paid is just like paid for nothing?!

I know that the student has something to do with his failure also but the idea that these schools should have screened these students on their 1^styear well before accepting them. Furthermore, they should have given the NAT exam on the 1^st year also. They should have somehow assessed if a particular student was mentally ready for the tiring, hectic, and mind-bugging course. In reality, they didn’t care. They just accept and accept students for the MONEY! And to retain the good record of their school in terms of the graduates they make, they trim down the student body on its last years through giving the dreaded NAT. They do this just in time when they have collected so much money already.

I don’t really know if there is a protocol here in the Philippines that NAT should be given on the first year or if its just alright to give it on the 3^rd year and eliminate those who didn't pass. But for me, WVSU-CON is doing the right thing; giving the NAT on the first year unlike those 4 other schools. It is really clear that those schools are just after revenues. They don’t take into consideration the hardships and sacrifices of the parents; working hard, killing themselves with intense work just to pay the tuition fees of their children. Those administrators are just getting the money and after three years, they’ll just say: “YOURE OUT OF THIS COLLEGE.” Where is justice here? . .They are just taking advantage to those troubled students. Just because the student didn’t pass the NAT?! Such deception is laudable! “No control in accepting enrollees” is what these private administrators do just to gain money!

And so what comes with uncontrolled enrollees per school year? - Compromised teaching and opportunities in learning which would eventually lead to POOR NURSING EDUCATION. This is being affirmed by the standing of the 5 schools I am referring to the annual Board of Nursing Examinations given to nursing graduates here in the

Philippines

wanting to practice Nursing professionally.

There are around 65,000 nursing examinees gathered in different testing centers nationwide (

Philippines

) to take NLE Nursing Licensure Examination June 2008. The nursing board examination was given by the Board of Nursing held on June 1 & 2, 2008. This is the exam that I took because I am batch 2008 of WVSU-CON. When the result came, WVSU-CON was ranked No. 2 in the top performing nursing schools in the country since among its 172 examinees, 169 passed giving the school a national passing percentage of 98%. We were all so happy because we ranked 2nd next only to University of Sto. Tomas which is also a premier university here in the

Philippines

. The Professional Regulation Commission – Philippines (PRC) announces that 27,765 out of 64,459 passed the exam. So apparently, the situation I am exposing above is not just true here in my city but in the whole

I am now living here in the Philippines. As I have told you in my profile, I am an avid fan of
Ugly Betty ( starring America Ferrera) and so every Tuesday night, I am always on that red couch by our house’s entrance door. Upon settling, I turn on the TV and wait until Ugly Betty is on air. At one Tuesday night, I thought that I am watching the latest episode of the show until I decided to check out on Youtube if that certain episode was already uploaded. I found out that what I just watched was season 3- episode 7. I searched the 'related videos' tab and I was so surprised that episodes 8 and 9 were already uploaded! WHAT?! I didn't even think that there were already episodes 8 and 9! I was then occupied with 2 thoughts. The first one was that the local TV station was late. I dont know but this station keeps on telling: “Fresh US Episode”. Well, I don’t believe now that it is really fresh. And secondly, I was amazed because I got to see the latest episodes and be ahead from all the general audience of the show here in the

Philippines

! So from then on, it came to my knowledge that the show was already on its 9^th episode.

At Last! I have already watched episodes 8 and 9! I subscribed to the authors of the videos. (I mean to those who uploaded the videos) Hoping that they’ll get to upload episode 10 and so forth.

And just this morning, I was not disappointed! Because true to my expectation, episode 10 (which is the latest) was uploaded! Of course I was happy about it! Fans of Ugly Betty here in the Philippines and probably in some territories outside USA are expecting to watch episode 9 in TV without knowing that episodes 9 and 10 are already in youtube! I wish that all the fans who have internet access in their homes we’ll come to realize this –
